Nest is owned and operated by Gina Sanche and serves families in Nelson, BC and the surrounding area. Gina is trained by DONA International as both a Postpartum and Birth Doula, with an academic background in Women’s Studies. She is certified in Infant/Child and Adult First Aid and CPR by the Red Cross.
With a long history of community involvement, she has worked with many groups. Previous projects with Kootenay Kids include home support for the Life-After-Birth program, and facilitation of the Young Parents Group. Gina spent 2 years as the co-ordinator for the Kootenay Doula Group's Volunteer Project, which offers barrier-free birth support to families throughout the West Kootenays. She has sat on various community boards such as the Nelson Early Childhood Advisory Council and the West Kootenay Women's Association. Her drive to help create change in her community and support families led her to establishing Nest in 2009.
As the mother of a 5-year-old little girl, Gina is continually learning to transform challenges into opportunities and practice presence. Parenting continues to teach her new lessons and test her skills in the arts of patience, communication, compassion, and surrender.
At Nest, we believe that nurturing parents during times of transition has positive long-term effects for the whole family; including physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Postpartum doulas help care for parents after the birth of a baby so they can focus on resting and caring for their families.
